The second Reykjavík Fringe took place from 29 June - 6 July 2019. 20 venues, 100+ shows, 250+ performers and 200+ performances.

Opening party

The opening party took place at Hlemmur Square on Saturday 29 June, and included:

* The Orchestra of Kimis presents- silent disco, inside a glowing installation by Huldufugl
* Performers from Draumveruleiki performing jaw-dropping acts on a pole
* American Single Show who possibly found true love in the audience
* Miss Vanilla Darling giving guests a taste of the Norwegian cabaret group Fifi von Tassel presents: Varietease
* DJ set by Huldufugl
* Drag-Súgur closed off the night with one of their legendary drag acts!

The host for the night was the hilarious Elva Dögg from My Voices Have Tourettes.

Preview night

The preview night took place at Tjarnarbíó on Sunday 30 June, where each and every performance got exactly 2 minutes to present themselves to a room full of artists, media, friends and audience members.

Before the preview night a parade took place from Hlemmur Square to Tjarnarbíó, with performers being stopped along the way and at Tjarnarbíó for a TV interview.

Following on from the Preview Night was the opening party of ÖRyrkinn / INvalid by Bára Halldórsdóttir, a 3 day installation in Listastofan.

After a week packed with artistic happenings all across the city, just before midnight on the final night, Saturday 6 July, the closing party and award ceremony took place inside a packed Bíó Paradís.

Awards were given out in 16 categories, and award winners were:

Jury members were Gígja Jónsdóttir (dancer), Unnar Geir Unnarsson (actor) representing Visit Reykjavík, Finnbogi Þorkell Jónsson (actor) and Þórunn Sunneva Elfarsdóttir (designer) representing Act Alone, as well as Nanna Gunnars (festival director) and Jessica LoMonaco (festival production manager) with the help of venue managers, stage managers and volunteers.

Additionally, Art of Astonishment by Keith Brown, The Ambiguous Vagabond by Gilad Shabtay, Dragsúgur, Draumveruleiki, Hooligan Dachshund by Hugleikur Dagsson, Jesus Year by Jono Duffy, Kassinn by Huldufugl, MIMRA, The Saga of the Shining Emblem and Sexy Talk by Lolly Magg all had SOLD OUT shows.

Around 100 shows took place in 17+ various venues across the city from 1-6 July, performing more than 250 times.

The venues were:
Aðventkirkjan, Dansverkstæðið (Dance Atelier), Dillon, Gallerí Fold, Gaukurinn, Hannesarholt, Hard Rock, Hlemmur Square, IÐNÓ, Kaffi Lækur, Listastofan, Nordic House, R6013, Secret Cellar, Sirkús Íslands tent, Tjarnarbíó and Þjóðleikhúskjallarinn (National Theatre Cellar).

Additionally there were several outdoor performances and performances in private residencies.
